CATALOGUES VOLKSWAGEN POLO / DERBY 1975 – 1981

La Volkswagen Polo type 86, lancée en 1975, est la soeur jumelle de l’Audi 50, dans une définition plus économique que cette dernière.

Dotée au départ d’un équipement qui frise la misère, elle évoluera petit à petit pour devenir un modèle-clé de la gamme Volkswagen parmi la trilogie Polo-Golf-Passat qui assure encore aujourd’hui l’essentiel des ventes de la marque de Wolfsburg.

La technique est d’origine Audi (Traction avant, moteur transversal) et le style de Bertone (qui vieillira plus vite que celui de la Golf, signée Giugaro).

La Derby est une version allongée avec carrosserie « 3 volumes » destinée à une clientèle plus traditionnelle. Cette variante s’appelle « Polo Classic » sur certains marchés.
