La Rover SD1 est la digne h\u00e9riti\u00e8re de la P6, du moins sur le plan esth\u00e9tique. La carrosserie, manifestement inspir\u00e9e de celle de la Ferrari Daytona (On peut trouver pire mod\u00e8le) est une compl\u00e8te r\u00e9ussite, aussi \u00e9l\u00e9gante que moderne et spacieuse.
\nLa m\u00e9canique, en revanche, est plus classique, voire m\u00eame sommaire \u00e0 ce niveau de gamme. Le V8, de bonne naissance, datait des ann\u00e9es soixante, et les six-cylindres d\u00e9riv\u00e9s des Triumph, cassaient comme du verre. Quant \u00e0 la qualit\u00e9 de construction… Rover fabriquait des \u00ab\u00a0voitures du lundi\u00a0\u00bb toute la semaine… entre deux gr\u00e8ves.
