L’histoire de Talbot est assez complexe du fait de sa double nationalit\u00e9 et des fr\u00e9quents aller-retour d’un c\u00f4t\u00e9 et de l’autre du Channel. A l’origine, Adophe Cl\u00e9ment, un constructeur de cycles, qui construisit une des premi\u00e8re usines automobiles, s’associa avec un duc britannique pour fonder Talbot en Angleterre parall\u00e8lement \u00e0 la poursuite des activit\u00e9s fran\u00e7aises qui prirent aussi le nom de Talbot. La firme anglaise fut absorb\u00e9e par Darracq (une autre soci\u00e9t\u00e9 anglaise fond\u00e9e par un fran\u00e7ais). A noter qu’une filiale italienne de Darracq donna naissance ensuite \u00e0 Alfa Rom\u00e9o…
\nEnsuite, Talbot Darracq se rapprocha de Sunbeam : Sunbeam et Talbot construisant en Angleterre, Darracq en France dans les ann\u00e9es 20. Ensuite, la firme anglaise tombera dans le giron de Rootes et le nom de Talbot s’effacera devant Sunbeam.
\nLa firme fran\u00e7aise dont il est question ici conna\u00eetra son heure de gloire sous la direction d’Anthony Lago pendant deux d\u00e9cennies… avant d’\u00eatre absorb\u00e9e par Simca en 1958. Le nom sera exhum\u00e9 de 1980 \u00e0 1986 pour succ\u00e9der \u00e0 Simca (voir sous cette marque)..
