La Tagora succède à la Chrysler 1610 / 2 Litres, dans un style très différent mais toujours très classique. Le problème de ce modèle, c’est de doublonner les Peugeot 505 et 604 avec lesquelles elle partage deux moteurs, le V6 PRV et le turbo-diesel Indénor.
De ce fait, le réseau Peugeot-Talbot ne fit pas beaucoup d’efforts pour vendre une voiture dont le public n’avait pas vraiment besoin… et la production cessa au bout de moins de trois ans. La Tagora est devenue une réelle rareté, particulièrement en version SX.
